The star jasmine vine in our backyard is heavy with blossoms that seemed to have appeared overnight. While the girls napped, I crept out to practice using my macro lens. For this newbie, placing focus with the macro is hard enough, but to make matters worse, the wind was blowing the flowers everywhere. I did manage to get a few I liked, though, and it sure was fun to practice!

WOW! That is so insane that you can see the pollen on the bees! Not that I've never seen a close up before... but usually it wasn't my friend who took the pic! So cool. How far away were you to get those?!
That is beautiful!! I love the pictures of the bumble bee! I have to know how close you were to get those shots! It looks like you were inches away! AMAZING!! I have been wanting to plant something like that outside of Claire's window so she has a pretty view of flowers, rather than the fence. You'll have to tell me if it's easy to grow/maintain!
@Liz- Thanks! For the closer up ones, my lens was probably just a couple of inches away. Some of the shots were crazy sharp... I zoomed really close in and you could count the bees' hairs! Yuck!
@Kelly- We planted these about three years ago, and we bought them as really small plants. We put up a trellis in the corner of our fence, and it started growing like crazy. It doesn't bloom for very long, though. I doubt these blossoms will last much longer, and I don't expect it will blossom this much again this year. We do absolutely nothing to it. My kind of plant! :)
Having fun with your macro I see. Awesome shots!
I know what you mean about trouble with focusing with the macro lens. It is amazing the number of times I have gone out and taken photos and it seems to be in focus in the viewfinder and in focus in the display on the back and then I go and download them and the WRONG thing is in focus. Or it's not in focus at all. You did a great job on the flowers!
Love the bee shots Sarah!
